Houston Police Union Woos NYPD Officers After Mamdani’s Election As Mayor

The Houston Police Officers’ Union is calling on New York City police officers to consider relocating after the election of Zohran Mamdani as New York’s mayor.

Mamdani is a Democratic socialist who has referred to the NYPD as a racist “rogue agency” that needs to be defunded. The local police union stated on social media that the HPD recently got a pay raise and has the support of the mayor, the City Council, and the community. HPOU President Doug Griffith says the HPD is 12-hundred officers short and would welcome NYPD officers.
