Hundreds Of Illegal Immigrants Are COVID-19 Positive In Brownsville

Hundreds of illegal immigrants test positive for COVID-19 in Brownsville. Mayor Trey Mendez says due to a lack of state and federal support, it is falling on local non-profits and labs to conduct COVID-19 tests and handle shelter and transportation services for the immigrants.

Mayor Mendez says from late January when the asylum seekers started to come back into the U.S. of three-thousand who have been processed, more than two-hundred-ten immigrants have tested positive for COVID-19. The Mayor says he still doesn’t consider the situation a crisis.
