There are new plans to combat an invasive insect, called the Screwworm fly, which can be deadly to livestock.

AG Secretary Brooke Rollins says they’re fighting back with sterile flies, which can stop the reproductive cycle. A giant facility will be built in the border town of McAllen.

The U.S. closed its southern border to livestock imports this summer after the screwworm advanced farther north in Mexico. The infestation is also linked to at least one death, south of the border.
