A former Bexar County jailer faces charges for smuggling an illegal immigrant into the country. U.S. Border Patrol officers stopped Carlos Favela at a checkpoint last Thursday night and reportedly found an illegal in his vehicle. Favela was off duty at the time.
The sheriff’s office reported on Saturday that Favela had resigned, and that his termination had already been in the pipeline. Favela worked for the sheriff’s office for two years. The Border Patrol and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office are conducting separate investigations.
