A judge is blocking the City of Progreso from firing its city manager. City Manager Pete Trevino filed a lawsuit against the city and its mayor on Monday.

The city council voted to extend Trevino’s contract on December 22nd, but Mayor Hugo Gamboa vetoed the decision. Trevino’s contract was set to expire, but a judge granted a restraining order to prevent that Wednesday. A hearing will be held on January 28th to determine Trevino’s status.
