Judge Dismisses Coronavirus Vaccine Theft Charges Against Doctor

Charges are dismissed against a Houston-area doctor accused of stealing a vial of the coronavirus vaccine. A Harris County court tossed out the case against Dr. Hasan Gokal on Monday.

The judge said Gokal was doing his job, especially during a public health crisis.

Defense attorneys say Gokal discovered an opened vial of the inoculation and gave it to the elderly or those with chronic health conditions after speaking with his supervisor and offering it to police and healthcare workers at the vaccine site. He also made sure to enter the information of those who were vaccinated into the state database.
