By court order, early voting for the runoff election of Texas’ 18th Congressional District is being extended by two days. The Texas Civil Rights Project sued Harris County on Sunday, asking for January 28th and 29th to be added to the early voting period.
The lawsuit was in response to the closure of polling places on Sunday and Monday because of winter weather. A district judge granted the plaintiffs’ request on Monday. Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth encouraged voters in a social media post to take advantage of the two extra days.
