A federal judge says Attorney General Ken Paxton will be allowed not to represent acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock in a lawsuit claiming religious discrimination in the new school voucher program.

The judge stated on Thursday that he’ll grant Paxton’s request to withdraw from the case as soon as Hancock has a new attorney. At issue is whether Islamic schools can participate in the state’s billion-dollar school voucher program. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for April 24th.
