Judge Tells Texas To Hurry Up With Foster Care Reforms

A federal judge is telling the state of Texas to hurry up with some reforms to the foster care system that she ordered two-years ago. In a morning hearing on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Janis Jack said state health and human services officials have made some improvements, but not enough.

Jack says Texas officials have until May to make progress on all her orders before she levels heavy fines on the state. She also threatened to call another hearing for each new instance of noncompliance.
