State District Judge William Moddy says he expects to issue a ruling in the case against El Paso’s shutdown by tomorrow. A group of El Paso restaurant owners and the Texas Attorney General’s office filed suit against El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego’s shutdown order.
Samaniego ordered a two-week shutdown of non-essential activities to prevent a surge in COVID-19 cases from overwhelming local healthcare resources. The restaurant owners say Samaniego’s shutdown is unconstitutional. Judge Moddy heard testimony from both sides in the case yesterday.
