The Kerr County budget for fiscal 2026 features a lower property tax rate and an 11-million-dollar shortfall. County commissioners approved the new budget during their Monday meeting, complete with a tax rate decrease of nearly five percent.
Kerr County officials have been trying to figure out how to fund flood recovery efforts without placing too much of a tax burden on flood victims. The county will draw on its reserve funds to cover part of the budget gap. The fiscal year starts on October 1st.
