Lyft, Uber To Cover Legal Fees If Drivers Sued Under Texas Abortion Law

Ride-hailing companies Lyft and Uber say they will cover the legal fees of any driver sued under Texas’ new anti-abortion law.
The law bans abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, and gives citizens the right to file civil suits against, and collect damages from, anyone aiding an abortion after that point.
Defendants would include anyone who drives a pregnant women to an abortion clinic. Lyft says it has created a fund to cover 100 percent of the legal fees for any of its drivers who are sued under the law.
