Man Accused Of Fatally Shooting Protester Indicted

A man accused of fatally shooting a Black Lives Matter protester in Austin last year is being charged with murder. Daniel Perry is also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct for allegedly shooting and killing Garrett Foster on Congress Avenue.

Police said Foster was armed when he and several other protestors surrounded Perry’s vehicle during a demonstration, at which point Perry allegedly fired shots from inside the car and fatally wounded Foster. Perry’s lawyer said he will “vigorously fight all of these charges.”
