A Mexican man accused of tampering with witnesses in a federal investigation will be held without bond until trial.

Authorities arrested Carlos Gerardo Perez Munoz late last month as he tried to cross the Hidalgo bridge. Investigators say Perez approached two witnesses involved in a federal investigation of ropa usada businesses in Hidalgo.

Perez reportedly threatened one of the witnesses, saying she would be harmed if she spoke too much. Perez appeared in court yesterday, and the judge found probable cause that a crime was committed. He could face up to 20 years in prison if he is convicted.
