A man has been arrested in Hidalgo County following the death of a baby. Investigators were called to the Mission Regional Hospital on Saturday following the child’s death.
Sheriff’s deputies went to a home in the 32-hundred block of John Marck Court to speak with the child’s father.
Thirty-four-year-old Ricardo Mata allegedly admitted that he left the child in the backseat of a locked vehicle outside his home. He also reportedly admitted to drinking and forgetting the child was in the vehicle. He’s been charged with injury to a child causing death.
