Man Arrested After Chase That Injured DPS Trooper

A man is in custody after a chase that injured a Department of Public Safety trooper. DPS troopers tried to pull over Mark Vargas Monday afternoon on North General McMullen Drive at Tulane Drive. The resulting chase ended when Vargas ran into another car. He bailed out and ran, but officers caught him.

A DPS trooper was hospitalized with a leg injury. Vargas is charged with evading arrest, evading arrest with a motor vehicle, drug possession, and tampering with evidence.
