A man is being extradited from Illinois after he allegedly made threats against a Hidalgo County judge. Gilberto Zepeda the Third was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Chicago last week.
Investigators say Zepeda harassed District Court Judge Nereida Singleterry over her handling of a lawsuit he filed in 2023. He escalated the threats by allegedly asking someone to kill the judge on social media. He’s expected to face several charges after he arrives in Hidalgo County.
