A man facing fraud charges in South Texas is making an unusual request to the judge overseeing his case.
Bernardo Gomez, Junior, was indicted by a grand jury for allegedly misusing money received from the COVID-era Paycheck Protection Program. His attorney recently filed a motion with the court asking permission for Gomez to travel to Mexico twice a month so he can attend meetings of the Rio Bravo City Council.
The motion indicates that Gomez would surrender his passport to authorities at the end of each trip. The court has not ruled on the motion.
