The Texas Department of Public Safety is releasing more information about a deadly crash in Brownsville. Twenty-one-year-old Yahir David Martinez died in the crash on State Highway Four on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say Martinez was driving a pickup loaded with bundles of narcotics when he failed to yield for a traffic stop initiated by the Border Patrol. The pickup was reportedly traveling at high speed when Martinez lost control and crashed into a tractor-trailer.

Martinez died at the scene, and three other people were injured. Two passengers who were in Martinez’s truck have been taken into custody by the Border Patrol.
