Man Shot By Officer Sues Mission Police Department

The City of Mission and one of its police officers is facing a lawsuit from a man who was shot while having a mental health episode. Falcon Rivera, Junior, claims his civil rights were violated when he shot while trying to escape from custody in January.

Rivera was handcuffed at the time he was shot, and the police department described Rivera’s behavior at the time as a psychotic break. The case was moved to federal court this week at the request of the city.
