Property tax cuts for homeowners and businesses will be placed before Texas voters on a November ballot.

Governor Greg Abbott said Friday he plans to sign the proposed tax cut bill, and he encouraged voters to approve the measure. The bill will increase the homestead exemption for taxes paid to school districts.

Homeowners over 65 or with disabilities will receive an even bigger cut. Business owners will get a reduction on taxes they pay on their inventory. The tax cuts will total 51 billion dollars over the next two years.
