A McAllen city commissioner has pleaded not guilty to charges of money laundering, smuggling and conspiracy to defraud the United States. A federal judge accepted Commissioner Rodolfo “Rudy” Castillo’s plea Monday.
Castillo and his wife Bertha were arrested last month after federal investigators accused them of using their used clothing business as a front for a smuggling operation. The Castillos have waived arraignment and are currently free on bond.
