A McAllen doctor has been sentenced to ten years in prison for his role in a healthcare fraud scheme. Seventy-year-old Osama Nahas was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in McAllen.
Nahas was convicted on conspiracy and healthcare fraud charges in 2024. He reportedly received kickbacks for ordering unnecessary lab tests for patients. His medical assistant, 54-year-old Isabel Pruneda, was also sentenced to eight years in prison on Tuesday. She reportedly forged patients’ signatures on consent forms as part of the scheme.
