A McAllen man will spend five years in prison after pleading guilty to murder. Twenty-eight-year-old James Bryan Whisenant entered his guilty plea in district court yesterday.
Whisenant was arrested following his great-grandmother’s death in 2017. He confessed to investigators that he suffocated the 92-year-old woman, though he could not give a reason why. Prosecutors had sought a 20-year sentence for Whisenant.
