Memorial Hermann Health System and its affiliated providers will require all staff members to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. The company made the announcement yesterday but said plans had been in the works for several months.
In a statement, the health care system added that more than 83-percent of its total workforce is already fully vaccinated. All remaining staff must be compliant by October 9th, unless they provide a medical or religious exemption.
Memorial Hermann President and CEO Doctor David Callender cited rising COVID hospitalizations and the Delta variant as reason for the requirement.
