Mercedes ISD Superintendent Arrested For DWI

A Rio Grande Valley school superintendent is facing DWI charges. The Texas Department of Public Safety says Benjamin Alexander Clifton was pulled over for a traffic violation on State Highway 100 on Friday evening. He was later charged with driving while intoxicated and released on a 25 hundred dollar bond.

Clinton was named superintendent of the Mercedes school district in February. A spokesperson says the district board will discuss the arrest privately during their regular meeting Tuesday.
