Mexican Man Charged With Smuggling Four Kilos Of Cocaine Into U.S.


A Mexican man is facing charges after being stopped in Hidalgo County while driving a vehicle containing four kilos of cocaine. Felipe Albino-De La Cruz will be in court tomorrow for a detention hearing in front of a federal magistrate on charges that he smuggled the drugs over the US-Mexico border.

The suspect was caught after investigators received a tip that he was at a Pharr Whataburger with a vehicle containing narcotics. The owner of the vehicle, Cristian Ortiz of Pharr, will also appear before the magistrate tomorrow. Both men could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison if convicted on drug smuggling charges.
