Officials with the Mission CISD are undertaking a major expansion of the school district’s coronavirus protocols.
The district is now offering on-campus rapid coronavirus testing to students and staff, whether they’re symptomatic or not. The school district is taking part in a statewide program that uses a nasal swab test that gives results in 15 minutes.
Parents must give their permission for their child to be tested, and they will be notified of the results of the test.
Positive results will also be shared with school district officials and the Hidalgo County Health Department for contact tracing purposes, as well as with the Texas Department of Health Services. Mission schools superintendent Dr. Carol Perez says the testing is aimed at maintaining the return to in-person instruction.
