More candidates are starting campaigns for next year’s elections in South Texas. Republican Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz announced Monday that she is running for re-election.  The District 15 representative is currently serving her second term in Congress.

Former Cameron County Sheriff Eric Garza also confirmed yesterday that he will run for county judge next year. He plans to run for the Democratic nomination against current Judge Eddie Trevino, Junior, and Port of Brownsville Chairman Steve Guerra.
