MPP Courtroom Tents Going Up In Brownsville

Tents that will be used as temporary federal courtrooms are taking shape in Brownsville.  An area near the Gateway International Bridge will be used to hold hearings to determine if asylum seekers will be returned to Mexico under a program implemented during the Trump Administration.  President Biden ordered a halt of the Migrant Protection Protocols program on his first day in office.  But the Supreme Court ordered a restart of the program earlier this year.  The Biden Administration says the “Remain in Mexico” program could resume later this month.
