Rain is expected in the Rio Grande Valley this weekend. The National Weather Service says showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the region today through Monday.
Several communities will hand out sandbags today to help property owners deal with potential flooding. Sandbag distribution events are scheduled in San Benito, Harlingen, Rio Grande City, La Grulla, Weslaco, Alamo, La Feria and Mission.
