A new study shows the Delta COVID variant is linked to a much higher risk of hospitalization. However, research also shows vaccines now in use are highly effective against it.
Researchers in Scotland say patients infected with the Delta variant, which was first found in India, were 85-percent more likely to wind up in the hospital. They also found the Pfizer vaccine is 79-percent effective against the variant and the AstraZeneca vaccine is 60-percent effective. The study was published in the British medical journal The Lancet.
