Texas congressman Colin Allred thinks he can be the first democrat to win a state-wide office in decades.

The Dallas-area lawmaker says that polling on his side, in the race for one of the state’s two Senate seats. It cites an internal poll showing that, if the November election were today, he would beat Ken Paxton by a narrow margin. That contradicts just about every publicly-available poll, which shows the state Attorney General winning both the GOP primary and the general.
