A new district court could come to Hidalgo County. Yesterday, county commissioners met and unanimously approved a resolution calling for a new district court.
The commissioners’ vote echoes the will of the county’s board of judges, which petitioned the county last week to pass the resolution. The Hidalgo County Board of Judges says it actually wants at least two more district courts to handle the increase in demand due to the county’s rapid population growth. Texas lawmakers must pass a bill that also needs the Governor’s signature before any new district court can be created.
