National Guard troops deployed to Los Angeles amid anti-ICE protests are there to keep the public safe. That’s the word from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who tells CBS’ “Face the Nation” that the move is necessary because California’s governor hasn’t taken the situation seriously enough.
Noem says the administration is “not going to let a repeat of 2020 happen,” a reference to protests in Minneapolis following the killing of George Floyd.
