Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says the suspect in the National Guard shooting was likely radicalized in the U.S. Noem told NBC’s “Meet the Press” authorites believe the 29-year-old suspect was “radicalized since he’s been here in this country.”

The suspect is an Afghan national who worked with the CIA during the Afghanistan War and came to the U.S. in 2021. Federal prosecutors said Friday he will be charged with first-degree murder following the death of National Guard member Sarah Beckstom.
