The National Weather Service has issued a warning about critical fire weather conditions in South Texas. The weather service says areas of severe to exceptional drought are present in the region, including all of Starr County and about half of Hidalgo County.
Forecasters say falling humidity, abundant fuel and blustery conditions could lead to rapidly spreading wildfires this weekend. The weather service recommends avoiding all outdoor burning until the danger has passed.
