A Texas law meant to support the state’s oil and gas industry has been ruled unconstitutional. It was passed back in 2021, and banned state investments in funds that oppose fossil fuels. There’s already an appeal.

Comptroller Kelly Hancock says the state has a right to “prevent investment firms from using Texan’s own money to push political agendas that would undermine our economy.”
