Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton wants a Tarrant County judge to put former US Representative Beto O’Rourke behind bars.
Last week, Paxton sued O’Rourke and his PAC, Powered by People, claiming that the group was illegally footing the bill for quorum-busting Texas Democrats.
Dozens of House Democrats have fled the state to obstruct a vote on a new redistricting map favored by the GOP. A judge granted a temporary injunction blocking O’Rourke and his group from covering the runaways’ expenses.
Paxton claims O’Rourke violated the injunction by soliciting donations at a Fort Worth rally on Saturday.
