Paxton Denies NY Times Claim That He Doesn’t Support Abbott In 2022

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is denying a New York Times claim that he won’t support fellow Republican Gov. Greg Abbott’s reelection bid. A few hours after the story was published on Tuesday, Paxton tweeted that it was “fake news” and stated he supports Abbott.

Abbott is running for a third term in 2022, but has lost some of the support of his conservative base for not reopening the state sooner from the pandemic shutdowns. Texas GOP Chairman Allen West and Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller haven’t ruled out challenging Abbott.
