Voters in Pharr returned the Pharr Forward slate to the city commission on Saturday. All three candidates were easily re-elected – all garnering 62 percent of the vote. Bobby Carillo defeated Pharr United candidate Daniela Zuniga, Ramiro Caballero beat Artemio Palacios, and Daniel Chavez won over Isidro Perez.
And in neighboring San Juan, it’ll take another month of campaigning to determine the mayor’s race. Mayor Mario Garza got the most votes – 45 percent – but not enough to avoid a runoff and he will face Jesus Ramirez who finished with 30 percent.
