A new poll shows the views of Governor Greg Abbott are increasingly at odds with the views of a majority of Texans – especially when it comes to the coronavirus.
The poll by the Texas Politics Project finds 52 percent of Texans think the Lone Star state is headed in the wrong direction. That’s the highest percentage since TPP began polling in 2008.
The results showed 53 percent disapprove of how Governor Abbott is handling the pandemic, with 56 percent in support of mask mandates for public school students.
As to Abbott himself, half of the Texans surveyed disapproved of how Abbott is handling his overall job, while 41 percent approve – the lowest job approval rating for the governor during his time in office.
