Port Of Brownsville Firm To Construct Country’s Largest Dredge

A shipbuilding company at the Port of Brownsville has been tapped to build what will be the country’s largest-ever dredging vessel.

Keppel AmFELS has been awarded a contract to construct a trailing hopper dredge for Manson Construction, a Seattle-based marine infrastructure firm.

The dredging vessel will be able to vacuum sand and mud off the sea floor and hold it until it can be pumped out for things like beach replenishment projects. The dredging ship will be the first of its kind built by Keppel AmFELS.
