Hidalgo County residents did pretty good in helping to slow the spread of the coronavirus over the Labor Day weekend. So says the county’s Health Authority, Dr. Ivan Melendez, who has studied the post-Labor Day holiday case numbers, and he tells 710 KURV:

Cameron County also did not see a huge jump in new coronavirus cases in the 2 to 3 weeks after Labor Day. Melendez praised those who heard the message and took the proper health and safety precautions to keep from becoming infected. But he adds the numbers he’s seeing show a lot of room for improvement – that the rate the virus is still spreading shows the outbreak is far from over.
