Postmaster General Delays Improvement Plans For McAllen Post Office

Plans to upgrade a mail sorting facility in McAllen are being placed on hold by the Postmaster General. The U.S. Postal Service announced last week that it would spend 12-million dollars to overhaul the facility rather than move operations to San Antonio.

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced Monday that he is putting all plans for post office improvements on hold until next year at the earliest. The decision was reportedly made after lawmakers expressed concerns about how DeJoy’s 40-billion-dollar plan to improve postal operations would affect mail delivery.
