By The City of Progreso is honoring a Border Patrol agent for a heroic action earlier this month. Agent Roberto Zavala was honored Monday night with the city’s first-ever Medal of Honor. Zavala stopped at a burning home on June 2nd and helped get 11 people to safety.
Congressman Vicente Gonzalez also attended Monday’s event to honor Zavala and present him with a flag. Zavala has downplayed the heroic nature of his actions, saying that he’s just glad that everyone got out safely.
