Record-Setting Darth Vader Collection Finds New Home In RGV

The Rio Grande Valley is the new home to a really big Darth Vader collection. The 70-thousand-piece collection belongs to Bill McBride who recently moved to the Valley from Washington DC.

He tells ValleyCentral-dot-com that he began collecting various Darth Vader-related items as a young boy, but the search for more eventually got serious, and the now 40-something McBride estimates he’s spent around 270-thousand dollars on Darth Vader helmets, action figures, paintings and more.

Much of the collection is kept in a temperature-controlled storage unit. McBride says he hopes to be able to showcase the collection publicly – perhaps at an upcoming Rio Grande Valley comic-con.
