Investigators say an Edinburg daycare manager tried to keep them from seeing video evidence of an alleged assault on a one-year-old boy. Fifty-eight-year-old Alma Enriquez Garza was charged with tampering with evidence on Monday.

Court documents indicate that investigators came to see Garza after a complaint that a Grandma’s Daycare employee struck the boy last month. Garza showed police some camera footage on her phone, but said the daycare’s full surveillance video had already been erased.

Investigators learned later that video of the alleged assault still existed and accused Garza of not wanting to show it to them. She was released on a 15-thousand-dollar bond on Monday.
