Report: Federal Immigrant Inmate Dies From Fentanyl Poisoning At Detention Center

A new report says a federal immigrant inmate died at a detention center from fentanyl poisoning.

On Tuesday, KTSM cited a death report submitted to the office of the Texas Attorney General. The report says Fernando Candelas died at the hospital early on the morning of June 30th after he was found unresponsive while in federal custody at the El Paso Detention Center.

The medical examiner later said fentanyl was in his system and caused his death. There is no word on how the 21-year old got the drug after having been in the detention center since early March.
