Report: SpaceX Exceeding FAA Limits On Closures At Boca Chica Beach

An environmental monitor says SpaceX is exceeding the number of hours it is allowed to close access to Boca Chica Beach for testing.

An official with the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program tells the Brownsville Herald that SpaceX had reached 357 hours of closures as of the end of April. The FAA agreed last year to let SpaceX close the area around the launch facility for a maximum of 300 hours each year.

The FAA is currently working on a new environmental assessment of the launch facility, and SpaceX is pushing to raise the current limit to 500 hours a year.
